Luskin Belle Scores Yea Cup Win

Jan 30, 2017

Luskin Belle continued her consistent form this preparation for Bendigo trainer Brian Gentle when she was able to take out the Rothwells Yea Cup.

The five-year-old mare proved to strong for her rivals, scoring from the Mornington trained galloper Sommernachtstraum in second with the Gentle stablemate Nine Mile Sniper finishing a gallant third.

" it was great to take out our third cup for the season, and this mare Luskin Belle really deserved the win. She has been in work a long time and been fairly consistent all the way through. She has raced through Winter, Spring and now Summer with just a couple of short breaks in the paddock between 10-14 days at a time " Gentle said

Luskin Belle sounded the warning nine days before the Yea Cup that a win might just be around the corner with a gallant second at Kilmore over 1900m.

Luskin Belle was given a nice run from jockey Matthew Corbisiero.

"Thing didn't go to plan very much in the run, but Luskin Belle was able to overcome this and still win " Corbisiero said
