Magic Debut Win

Oct 27, 2014

Brian Gentle tasted success for the first time since relocating to his Bendigo base when he made the 3 1/2hour trip to Wodonga on Monday with debutant Attract The Magic.

With apprentice Jason Collins aboard, the son of Magic Albert landed behind the leaders from an inside draw and drew away for a comfitable 2 3/4 length win at the post.

Rolling up to the leaders before the bend, the horse raced waywardly in the straight, finishing out wide on the track suggesting he still has plenty to learn.

A $10,000 purchase from the 2013 Australian Bloodstock sale, the four-year-old is a half brother to the handy Sure Fast, trained by Bede Murray.

The win came as some relief to the former New South Wales- based Gentle, who had trained four placegetters in the lead-up to Monday's win.

" He's a nice horse with plenty still to learn, he had had a few jump outs going into his debut and we were very confident he could win, off what we had seen at home going into his debut run " Gentle said.
