Party Rocker flies at first run for Brian Gentle

Nov 17, 2012

Party Rocker has made a brilliant start to life with the Brian Gentle stable with his impressive victory in the Southern Pathology Maiden (1200m) at Kembla Grange.

Gentle took over Party Rocker’s training earlier this year after the gelding began his career at another Rosehill stable.

The three-year-old had two minor placings to his name from three juvenile starts but persistent problems kept Party Rocker off the scene for more than 40 weeks.

Gentle sent Party Rocker back to the races without a barrier trial but the tactic worked perfectly after the son of Stratum comfortably defeated his opposition.

The trainer booked apprentice Lester Grace to ride Party Rocker. The teenager repaid Gentle’s faith with a perfect front-running ride.

Grace sent Party Rocker across the field to lead comfortably from barrier 10 before rating his mount perfectly throughout the early and middle stages.

Party Rocker had plenty in hand when Grace asked for an effort from the 400 metres. The promising galloper sprinted clear of his rivals before holding a handy margin on his opposition to the line, scoring by a length.

Party Rocker’s stylish success was his first in four starts while the $12,250 winner’s cheque took his prizemoney to more than $24,900 with the promise of plenty more to come as he improves with racing.

Congratulations to Party Rocker’s owner - K Yoshizawa.
